The holiday season is upon us and there are many reasons to celebrate. We have our family, friends and health! With the calendar year coming to a close, it’s an ideal time to look back and reflect on how you got here. It’s also a good moment to ponder where you want to go as the next calendar page turns. The best way to commemorate these thoughts? By stuffing your face with those you care about most!
Let’s face it. With family time comes a lot of dessert time — it’s no wonder we tend to gain excess pounds in the winter. If you’re feeling guilty about all of the sugar, add some awesome benefits by incorporating CBD into your desserts.
CBD is a nonpsychedelic supplement that will help your whole squad kick back and relax this holiday season. Baking with CBD may seem strange, but it’s a natural extract that can help support balance in the system. The whole family can enjoy some delicious CBD treats this holiday season without worrying (too much) about excess pounds! Let’s take a look at how to make five delicious CBD holiday desserts.
Why CBD for the Holidays?
The holidays are a time meant for family, reflection and having a good time. We’re all so busy 52 weeks of the year, so December into January is a time to be grateful for your loved ones, health and future. Unfortunately, many look at this time of year as a source of stress. Some perceive the holidays as daunting due to financial woes, hosting parties or dealing with family members. It can’t solve every problem, but using CBD during the holidays may just help relieve some of that stress.
Sometimes we forget that work and other responsibilities can take the backseat for a few days. Our minds keep racing to all the things on our to-do list. By the time we finally unplug our minds from the everyday grind, the holiday vacation is over and it’s time to plug it back in! That’s why using CBD products can help kick your dessert up a notch this holiday season.
How CBD Desserts Work
Consuming a CBD dessert is much like taking a supplement with breakfast. You are consuming beneficial phytocannabinoids along with fats, carbs and other micronutrients. By infusing your desserts with CBD, it naturally increases the bioavailability of all your food’s nutrients.
The fats of the food will absorb the CBD chemicals. When you consume CBD desserts, the fatty exterior will hit the stomach acid first and the solid matter will break down. As a natural reaction, the CBD hoarded in the fat will dissipate into the atmosphere.
Since your atmosphere is contained inside of your skin, phytocannabinoids will dissolve into the bloodstream, where they can lend your endocannabinoid system a hand. The receptors in your ECS can cause your brain to repeatedly think things like, “You’re going to have so many emails when you go back” or “Your father-in-law’s politics are going to cause a huge fight.” CBD can interact with the ECS and help bring that stress down a notch.
Now that you understand how CBD can help your holiday spirit, let’s get to making some delicious CBD holiday desserts!

Vegans don’t drink dairy products, which excludes them from this festive beverage. Well, the CBD community is an inclusive one. So, cheers, vegans. CBD Gingerbread and Apple Cake
Who isn’t a bit guilty of going overboard at the orchards during the fall? We still have some apples clinging onto life. What better use than to bake them? This CBD Gingerbread and Apple Cake is guilt-free because it’s gluten-free. With 18 million Americans suffering from a gluten sensitivity, flour in holiday treats may lead to excess weight into the New Year. This recipe takes that statistic into consideration and gives you a healthy dose of CBD!
Dry Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup gluten-free brown rice flour
- 3/4 cup gluten-free buckwheat flour
- 1/4 cup sunflower seed
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon clove
- Pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt
Wet Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
- 1/4 cup pure cane sugar
- 1/4 cup organic maple syrup
- Apples (or 1/3 cup applesauce)
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/3 cup distilled water
- 1 tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup organic coconut oil
- 1 dropperful Joy Organics lemon CBD tincture
- 1 tablespoon raw chia (place in 1/4 cup of warm distilled water)
Directions:
- This recipe is best with homemade applesauce. If you have any left over, heat it up on the stove and stir with water. You only need 1/3 cup of applesauce, so 1 or 2 apples should suffice. However, if you make extra, that’s a nice treat to snack on!
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Line a cake pan with parchment paper.
- Mix all dry ingredients.
- Once applesauce is done, allow to cool.
- Mix all wet ingredients (including homemade applesauce) into a bowl. Exclude the chia.
- Slowly mix dry mix into wet mix.
- Add chia paste and smooth together.
- Place into lined pan and even out with a spatula.
- Bake for 25 minutes, until browned.
