CBD oil is one of the fastest growing consumer products in the U.S. Along with the fast-growing CBD market there has also been an explosion in CBD companies hoping to cash in on this new gold rush. As with any product, there are some good companies and there are some bad companies producing CBD oil. Unfortunately for consumers, there are more bad companies producing inferior products than there are good companies producing high-quality products.
If there’s one dietary supplement on which you don’t want to skimp, it’s CBD. Whereas a high-quality CBD oil can offer numerous benefits, a low-quality oil will not only be ineffectual and a waste of money, it can also contain contaminants which can be harmful to your health. This is why you should only consider pharmaceutical-grade CBD oil products.
Much of the CBD flooding the market today is either produced from low-quality industrial hemp, or has low levels of CBD and other cannabinoids and terpenes, is extracted using harsh processes which can damage beneficial compounds, or, worse yet, contains contaminants such as toxic metals, molds, solvents, and so forth.
Another problem plaguing the CBD market is the lack of accurate labeling. A recent study showed that a full 40% of CBD products tested did not contain the concentrations of CBD which were claimed on the label.
As a consumer, how does one sift through all these brands flooding into the market to find one that’s of pharmaceutical-quality and free of contaminants?
Fortunately for you, you’ve already found one. All of Joy Organics CBD oil products are made to be of pharmaceutical-quality. But what does this mean exactly? And how is this determined?
Let’s take a look at some of the qualities that qualify Joy Organics to claim that we produce pharmaceutical-grade CBD oil.
Joy Organics Is GMP Certified
Joy Organics CBD oil products are produced under a set of standards known as Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP. In fact our facility is currently the only dedicated CBD products manufacturing facility which is GMP certified.
GMP refers to a set of manufacturing processes set forth by the US Food and Drug Administration under the authority of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. GMP is designed to minimize the risks involved in the production of pharmaceutical drugs. When followed, GMP regulations ensure that products are consistently produced according to the highest quality standards.
GMP covers all aspects of production including the starting materials, facilities, equipment and processes. GMP regulations also address issues such as record keeping, personnel qualifications and training, sanitation and cleanliness.
GMP is also sometimes referred to as “cGMP.” The “c” stands for “current.” In order to comply with cGMP regulations, a company must employ technologies and systems which are up-to-date. Systems which may have been state-of-the-art decades ago, may not live up to today’s standards.
In order to be GMP certified, a company must be able to provide documented proof that correct procedures are consistently followed at each step in the manufacturing process. It must also be willing to undergo audits of its entire operation in order to maintain its GMP certification.
Pharmaceutical-Grade CBD Oil Hemp Source
The making of a high-quality natural product begins with a high-quality source. You can’t make premium products from sub-par source material. If you were to do some research on the processes that most CBD oil makers use to produce their products using industrial hemp.
The problem with industrial hemp is that it was cultivated and bred for the purpose of producing seeds and fiber, and not for its cannabinoid and terpene content. For this reason, industrial hemp is not the best source for extracting a CBD-rich, full-spectrum oil.
CBD and other cannabinoids as well as terpenes are found in neither the seeds nor the fibers of the hemp plant. In fact, the production of seeds requires the presence of male industrial hemp plants to fertilize the female plants. For this reason, industrial hemp farming favors male plants. Once the plant’s flowers are fertilized, the bulk of the plant’s energy goes into producing seeds, taking away from the production of the valuable essential oils. The essential oils are produced in the highest abundance in the unfertilized female hemp plant.
All of Joy Organics products are made from a much higher-quality source known as phytocannabinoid-rich, hemp (PCR). PCR hemp has been specifically bred for producing high levels of cannabinoid and terpenes. PCR hemp can also be produced using feminized seeds or clones of female plants to minimize the fertilization process and maximize the production of essential oils.
Organic Farming Methods
The phytocannabinoid rich hemp used in our products is grown in optimal nutrient-rich soil in Colorado, under strict guidelines and using only 100% organic farming practices.
Each year, the Colorado State Department of Agriculture tests the hemp plants for THC content to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Our state-of-the-art farming process ensures continued enhancement of our natural genetic strains and ensures a safe and regulated product, with unsurpassed potency and consistency.
Proprietary Extraction and Solids Separation
Joy Organics products are produced using a proprietary food-grade ethanol-based extraction process. This process ensures the preservation of all beneficial phytocannabinoids and terpenes while eliminating unwanted compounds and preventing the degradation of natural molecules during extraction and purification.
While CBD by itself offers health benefits, research demonstrates that a full-spectrum CBD product which contains other naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes increases the health benefits of the product. This is called the Entourage Effect. Our full spectrum, phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil contains synergistic cannabinoids, such as CBD, CBDA, CBG, CBN, CBC, as well as a diverse terpene profile.
Another proprietary process is used to separate the plant solids from the oil. The oil is then ‘distilled’ to remove the food-grade ethanol. What remains is a high-quality, full-spectrum CBD oil.
Another important quality of a pharmaceutical-grade product is that it should not contain any unwanted active compounds. In the case of CBD oil products, this means assuring that the end product is 100% free of THC, the compound in cannabis which produces a high.
In order to achieve a completely THC-free product, our process starts with a PCR hemp strain which has less than 0.3% THC by dry weight. The full-spectrum oil then undergoes a patented process which removes all traces of THC from the final product.
Independent Laboratory Testing
Another factor to consider when producing pharmaceutical-grade CBD oil is third-party lab testing. In order to be sure that a product is of the highest quality and potency and free of contaminants, Joy Organics products undergo rigorous testing by independent laboratories. The tests which are performed can not only quantify and confirm levels of cannabinoids and terpenes, it can also identify any contaminants that may have entered the product during the manufacturing process which would detract from the production of a pharmaceutical-grade CBD oil product.
As you can see, Joy Organics goes to great lengths to produce pharmaceutical-grade CBD oil products. We start with the highest-quality PCR hemp. We extract the raw oil using a proprietary process. Then we meticulously remove all traces of THC from the final product. After rigorous quality tests of our own, all of our products are sent off to an independent laboratory for quality testing.
This entire process is done using a GMP-certified manufacturing process — an essential, overarching set of quality assurance standards. Our CBD manufacturing facility is currently the only GMP-certified facility in the industry.
So, if you’re looking for pharmaceutical-grade CBD, you’ve come to the right place.
